Powder Scarf

If you're a regular reader, you may know by now that I am obsessed with all types of accessories! Even if it's just a simple pair of stud earrings, a plain necklace or ring, I believe that this subtle addition can make a huge difference, and bring any outfit to life. Throughout the colder months, what better way to accessorize than with a cute patterned scarf - It spruces up a  plain outfit and gives it that extra lift, and needed umph!

For the last few days, this gorgeous oversized scarf has been a staple. As of Wednesday, I have officially started my first ever "big girl" job (hooraay!), which unfortunately involves me leaving the house at 6:30am, and confronting the arctic like temperatures early in the morning. This scarf from Powder is so warm and cozy, and has therefore been a key part of my daily commute; it also conveniently serves as a shawl for when the office is slightly chilly (my manager loves to keep the windows open to boost "productivity", as he says).

The scarf itself is of a very light and thin material, but because it's so large in size, it has enough fabric to wrap around the neck, and build the layering to provide enough warmth as desired. This scarf is beautiful; it has the cutest and most vibrant floral pattern, without being too over the top and resembling a grandma's curtain. The design is elaborate, but very tasteful. Not only does this scarf keep me warm, but it also complements most outfits. I have figured out a few ways to style this oversized scarf which will be demonstrated in a future post, so stay tuned!

This scarf is available at Powder for £20. I highly recommend checking out the full range of scarves and other products available online - you will be spoilt for choice

What are your opinions on the scarf? What are your Autumn/ Winter staples?

Lots of love, Ana

Elegance in simplicity

Whilst growing up I went through a phase where I was obsessed with all types of statement jewellery, whether that was chunky necklaces, long heavy earrings and glitzy rings, I had them all. Overtime I grew to have quite a collection; I still do, and love each individual piece just as equally as I did years ago, although some (most) are no longer on trend (I'm considering writing a post showcasing my jewellery collection, is that something you guys would be interested in?). However, I have reached a point where I have come to favour simple and delicate pieces, as opposed to my former preference of bold and daring jewellery. I rather invest on jewellery pieces that are refined, elegant and timeless in style, and thus can be worn for many years to come. I want to buy jewellery which maximizes wearability with its versatility.

I am a firm believer that you are able to achieve an expensive look simply based on the right choice of accessories, particularly jewellery, and I believe this necklace by TH Baker does just that. This beautiful sterling silver cluster necklace, although very simple, adds an attractive allure to any outfit. It has a beautiful oval blue gemstone, framed by an array of sparkling Cubic Zirconia - it's simply exquisite and makes a lovely gift for any occasion. What I like most about this necklace is its understated sophistication and how it offers an effortless transition between daytime and evening.

For today's post I wanted to show you how a simple outfit consisting of a white baggy shirt and blue jeans, was instantly revamped by this necklace and pair of matching earrings; a casual choice of clothing for a day at home, turned into an outfit that could easily be worn for a lunch date or afternoon tea with friends.

This necklace is available at TH Baker for £29.95.

What are your opinions on today's post? Do you lean towards simple or statement jewellery?

Lots of love, Ana

Now that Autumn is finally here (I say finally because it's my absolute favourite out of all the other seasons!), my wardrobe is going through a major transition, from bright colours and loud prints, to a darker palette and classic minimalistic pieces. Red is one of the colours that I naturally incline to  throughout the colder months, so when Vestry offered to send me a sample of their most recent clothing line, I instantly leaned towards this gorgeous piece.

I find this midi dress so sexy and sultry, yet so elegant and chic at the same time - it is a superb choice for Fall. This stunning frock hugs the figure beautifully; it cinches the waist giving the illusion of a slimmer upper body, whilst simultaneously accentuating the natural feminine figure in the lower half. Another big tick is the added ruching  effect that hides away my not-so-flat tummy. The asymmetric hem and drape effect skirt, give the illusion of elongated legs, and essentially, transformed  what could have been a very simple dress, to one that is perfect for any upcoming special occasions, day or night - It gives it that certain je ne sais quoi.

To complete the look I opted for a voluminous curly hairstyle, and paired the dress with a sexy pair of lace up cheetah print heels just to spice up the outfit a tiny bit more. I also decided on a pair of gold dangly earrings to bring attention to the gorgeous plungy neckline of the dress (which can also be a tad troublesome - if I'm not careful, I can have major boobage malfunction! I'd highly recommend securing the neckline with a safety pin in order to prevent  any tit slips!).

OOTD breakdown:

Dress - Vestry
Cheetah print heels - JustFab
Earrings - Aldo

What are your opinions on today's OOTD? Is this a dress you would choose?

Lots of love, Ana

Ted Baker Notebook

Hi, I'm Ana and I have a tiny confession to make; I am totally obsessed with stationary. I am addicted to it all - glittery pens, colourful pencils, scented highlighters, patterned folders, but worst of all, pretty notebooks/ journals/ planners - I simply can't get enough! I remember when I was younger and school season was approaching, the most exciting aspect wasn't exactly going back to school after a long Summer, it was the multiple trips to WhSmiths, Staples and Woolworths weeks before the start date, to purchase the cutest and most fetching accessory sets (not that they lasted very long, by the second week back at school I would be left with two pens, out of a ten pack...). To sum up, for the past 22 years of my existence I have been suffering with "I love all stationary" syndrome.

So, you can imagine my excitement when I received a package through the post from Internet Gift Store, with the most gorgeous Ted Baker notebook! It is honestly any obsessive compulsive stationary hoarder's dream - I couldn't have been more ecstatic by this gorgeous addition to my ever growing collection of journals and planners.

The cover of the notebook has a sweet Oriental Bloom design, on a baby pink background with rose gold accents. On the spine of the book there is also a pink pencil included,  attached by two elasticated loops to maintain it in place at all times. The notebook is also the ideal size for carrying in my handbag, handy for when I have to quickly jot down any emergency notes or inspirational ideas. This notebook is simply exquisite; it offers  a vibrant, sophisticated and feminine design, and is therefore the perfect gift for any avid writer.

This Ted Baker notebook is available to purchase at Internet Gift Store for £13.49, along with other original and novelty gifts.

What are your thoughts on this Ted Baker notebook? Is it something that you would pick up in a store?

Lots of love, Ana

Jim Kersie, a Melbourne based brand, very kindly contacted me to review a bracelet out of their collection of beautiful hand crafted pieces. Renowned for an eccentric style, Jim Kersie boasts a wide range of unique bracelets, constructed with the utmost care and designed to the highest quality specification.

I was very fortunate to be able to choose any bracelet from the website, and this was the piece that stood out to me the most from all the rest. It is a very modest and simple bracelet, yet looks very luxurious and sophisticated due to the much level of attention that has been devoted to the smallest of details. This intricate piece is composed by Onyx gemstones, Swarovski crystals, 22kt skull feature and 22kt beads. It is so versatile and can be worn pretty much on a daily basis, complementing  most outfits. On this occasion, I decided to go for more of a Rock & Roll/ Edgy vibe and teamed it up with a pair of black leather trousers, a plain black vest top (plus a turtle neck jumper for when it got slightly chillier) and a wide leather strap belt with a gold buckle. I didn't stop there; I concluded the look with a dramatic smokey brown eye (and I promise I did fix my wet dog hairstyle before leaving the house..).

Christmas is pretty much around the corner (Wow, did I really just say that?) and this would be a great gift if you're stuck for ideas. The bracelet comes in a charming black box, complete with a leather pouch to keep the bracelet protected at all times.

Tips to turn a bad day around!

Every now and again, like any other girl, I have really low days where the idea of even leaving the house can seem quite intimidating. With amounted stress from work, home and general life, I sometimes wish I could isolate myself in my own little cocoon, and wait for all my problems and concerns to go away all on their own. Of course in such occasions, we all want to be able to feel more relaxed and calm, but it can be difficult to know where to start. I however, have come up with a list of a few ideas that never fail to perk me up when I seem to be having one of those days - take note!

1- Have a bath - A hot bath is an instant stress fix! Add a few drops of your favourite body oil, and submerge yourself into that beautiful fragrant water and let the benefits of the oil work its magic on your skin - not only will this be a soothing experience, but also a great moisturising treatment. Another favourite of mine is of course, LUSH bath bombs! Dropping the bath bomb in the water is in itself very satisfying, but then watching it slowly fizz and disintegrate, and turn the clear water into a beautiful vibrant rainbow, is another gratifying "ooh, aah!" moment. Finally, don't forget the essentials! Candles, music and a face mask are a must have.

2 - Chamomile Tea - Chamomile tea is a must have in my household; it helps me to unwind from a rough day and relax into a state of relatively peaceful bliss. This calming tea acts as a mild sedative as well as an anti-anxiety agent, therefore ensuring a great night's sleep!

3 - Create a calm and comfortable environment - My bedroom is my restful sanctuary; I love to walk in and know that I will have a tranquil night's sleep (this can make all the difference between a good and bad day!). My first tip would be to de-clutter; I don't mind if a couple of things are out of place (they can be easily put away in the morning), but knowing that there is a huge pile of mess that needs sorting, makes me instantly anxious. By no means am I the most organised person (my friends and boyfriend can vouch for that!), but I have come a very long way from back in my Uni days when I used to skip along my bedroom floor to dodge the clutter and mounts of clothing on the floor (treading on your hairbrush is not at all relaxing!). Having a clean bedroom honestly makes all the difference!

My second tip is to change your bed linen. This is abit of a random one which I did wonder whether to include or not, but here it goes anyway: When I'm having a stressful/ low day, there is no better feeling than crawling into a set of freshly cleaned bed sheets! It is simply heavenly.

Finally don't forget about personal touches to create the perfect ambience; perfumed candles, plump pillows, fresh flowers and your favourite blanket to keep you warm.

4 - Pamper yourself - How about treating yourself to an at home manicure?  Or alternatively, and one of my  other old  favourites, apply a coconut oil hair mask! Why not do both? Reach out for your favourite face mask, that luxurious body moisturiser (because every day is a special occasion!) or your favourite Dior lipstick that cost you a week's supply of food but makes you feel like a million bucks!
Top off your pamper day with a lavish snacks tray in bed while you catch up on your favourite TV series!

5 - Unleash your creative side - Transfer your emotions to a piece of craft work; harness inspiration from your negative feelings and turn them into a positive - draw, paint, sculpt? In my case, I decided to write this blog post hoping that it could be helpful to someone else!

What did you think of today's post? What are your favourite way's to unwind when you're having a low day?

Lots of love, Ana
